3 myths about sugar that prevent you from losing weight

sugar

It’s time to debunk popular myths about sugar and sweeteners

INSTEAD OF SUGAR - FRUCTOSE

This is one of the most destructive myths for your figure. We replace sugar with fructose, not even suspecting that these products have the same amount of calories. However, fructose is digested more slowly, than common sugar (sucrose), and it turns into the same glucose during the digestion process.

Unlike ordinary sugar, which serves as a universal source of energy, fructose is almost completely absorbed by the liver cells, where it is converted directly into free fatty acids.

As a result, this process can lead to:

  • obesity,
  • cardiovascular diseases.

SWEETENER IS A NATURAL PRODUCT THAT DOES NOT HARM OUR FIGURE

Sweeteners, like all substitutes for natural products, have an unpleasant “BUT” for our figure. They significantly increase appetite. According to the latest research of scientists, the human brain is not capable of distinguishing an artificial additive from the natural sugar.

Therefore, while digesting the sweetener, our body starts the glucose processing program with the release of the hormones that are needed in this case, without even suspecting that we are deceiving it.

SWEETENER

The level of glucose rises in the blood in the same way as if natural sugar was consumed, which leads to:

  • diabetes mellitus,
  • total disruption of metabolic processes,
  • hindered weight loss progress.

Therefore, it is definitely not worth to use chemical substitutes to reduce the amount of calories consumed.

ELIMINATE SUGAR FROM THE DIET FOR THE SAKE OF AN IDEAL FIGURE

It is a myth. Nutrition with a high concentration of carbohydrates and sucrose, while engaging into active exercising show the best results in the weight loss process. In 2012, the American School of Nutrition held an interesting experiment:

Over a period of 12 weeks, 69 women observed a diet with sugar-containing foods, which was compiled by dietitians. Three months later, weight in the majority of participants decreased by 4.7%, the waist size and the total amount of fats in the body decreased significantly. Thus, the doctors came to the conclusion that small doses of sugar will not damage your diet.

ELIMINATE SUGAR

In combination with physical activity, moderate consumption of sugar gives its positive results. Specialists urge us to:

  1. actively exercise,
  2. feel no remorse for consuming sweets,
  3. think positively.

Do not exaggerate the harm of sugar and deprive yourself of small pleasures.
